Just only today a taxi driver told me “nothing can come of us, we are this a society.” I did agree with him on certain aspects of the comment but cannot just place my finger on the accuracy of such an accusation. With that feed rolling over and over in my background I watched Musa Dağdeviren, the Turkish chef and who was the start of one of the episodes of Chef’s Table Season 5 on Netflix.

That devouring thought just disappeared and proudness blew into my soul. To be honest this is the first time I am watching a local person whom I have met, talked, shook hands and have eaten his food on an international channel. We normally watch foreigners and brag about how we ate in their restaurants and be mesmerised by their atmosphere. But now everything I saw was from me. That's an “aha” moment, like when Nuri Ceylan Bilge (the director) had won rewards but this time it was different. As I knew the guy.

I will not go into the details of how the episode was and that crap which you can easily perceive yourself but it was my hubris moment for sure. On the contrary, I would love to mention how I connected. His vision can become optical in his restaurant called Çiya and that's the most beautiful aspect of all things. To see what he has created and to exhibit it.

It was a very proud moment for me, the culture lover of all things. There was a theme to it, which for me was that we as humans are the culture porters. We carry food, cultures, music, stories, epics and knowhow.
